Build it with us, at the stage that decides everything.
dia is two founders, a prototype and a set of open questions. This page is the honest version of what that means: where we are, what we look for in anyone who joins, and what we can offer now against what we can offer later.
01Where we are
Three moments, and we are in the first.
Joining a company is really joining one of its stages. These are ours, in the same terms we use on the rest of the site.
NOW
Pre-product, two founders
No outside money, no finished device. A prototype under construction and a small number of decisions that will shape everything after them. Whoever joins now works on the questions rather than on the backlog.
NEXT
Pilots in the field
Nodes on real bodies with our first partners, opening 2027. The work turns from what should this be into what does this actually read, and the answers start deciding the roadmap for us.
LATER
A platform, and a team around it
Every vertical we answer leaves something the next one inherits. That library is the company, and the team that maintains it is bigger than two people.
02What we look for
The same five things, whatever you build.
We are too early to hire against a job description. These hold whether you turn out to be the firmware person, the model person or something we have not thought of.
Conviction
You want this problem specifically, not a job at a startup generally. The body is the last unmeasured thing and that sentence either does something to you or it does not.
Comfort without the map
Embryonic stage means most of what you touch has no precedent inside the company. You are the one who decides what good looks like, and then has to live with it.
A researcher’s habits
Much of this is genuinely open. We would rather work with someone who runs the experiment and reports the result honestly, including when the result is that the idea was wrong.
Range over title
At two people, the line between hardware, model, platform and product is a formality. The work goes where the work is.
People first, and we mean it
We are building a company around how bodies actually hold up. It would be absurd to burn out the people doing it. Your health and your life outside this are not a benefit we grant, they are a condition of the work.
03The package
What we can offer grows with the company.
Pretending otherwise at this stage would be dishonest, and you would find out anyway. So the shape of it is three columns: what comes with joining today, and what it becomes as dia reaches the next two stages.
TODOPackage contents at each stage. Diego and Andrei to agree, then replace the placeholder lines in the grid below (they are deliberately generic, not final copy). No figures anywhere (CLAUDE.md: no prices, no funding amounts) - describe what it is, not what it is worth.
Joining now
- A founding share of the company, and a say in what it becomes
- Ownership of a whole surface, not a ticket queue
- Work arranged around the work, not around an office
- Hours and rest we hold ourselves to as well
Once we are funded
- Salary that stops being the constraint it is today
- Budget for the tools and hardware the work actually needs
- People beside you on your own part of the problem
As the team grows
- The structure a larger team can offer, without losing what got built here
- Room for the people who arrived first to lead what they started
04Open roles
Where we need hands first.
Two places where the work is already waiting. If you are none of these and read this far anyway, that is the third option.
TODOOpen roles, once the package is agreed. Confirm these two are still what we need first, and whether a third (model / ML) belongs here before the pilots.
